ICE VEINS BEATS REACH OVER 1000!

G = 1000

These days it seems 1000 is a good number for GBUILDING.  As a follow up to the 1000+ ALL INSTRUMENTAL BEAT drop for the GATORS PROJECT, the fully instrumental ICE VEINS has also reached that milestone.  Granted, probably around ICE VEINS6 or 7 you will start hearing increasing repeat tracks but if you are diligent enough and don't mind these you are certain to find plenty gems on each volume.  I don't know about you but for me, its hard to complain when it is all FREE.  Anyways, MC's are already scooping these joints up and doing tracks and even videos over them.  Check em out on our ICE VEINS ARCHIVE PAGE, if you haven't yet.

ICE VEINS COMPILATION ANNOUNCED!!!

Just when you thought it was safe...GBUILDING stomps back on the scene with 50 MORE INSTRUMENTAL TRACKS on the first volume of a new compilation entitled "ICE VEINS". It looks like G is planning to have at least 4 volumes of this compilation meaning, listeners will most likely have 200 new joints to listen to before the end of the year.  If "cold" is supposed to be the theme of ICE VEINS, it does not disappoint.  Overall, this first set of tracks has a refreshingly different feel than some of the GBUILDING tracks heard on previous projects.  Precise and smooth yet still soulful, aggressive and raw, the first ICE VEINS ventures into more melody driven, "live band sounding" hip hop experience.

Check it out for FREE on our new ICE VEINS ARCHIVE PAGE!  or listen to ICE VEINS vol.1 HERE.

---EDIT

I had no idea that ICE VEINS was going to go the distance like this.  Now updated to 10 volumes, ICE VEINS promises a minimum of 500 beats.  In another dizzying display of audio output, GBUILDING continues to drop harder than anyone I've ever seen do it.  And its not like this stuff is garbage either.  There are so many gems and masterpieces on these projects its surreal.  I really don't know what else to say but enjoy this Hip-Hop fans.  This type of musical explosion may never happen again, definitely not for free like this.

STEELWORKS5 - KOOL G RAP G-MIX

Kool G Rap is probably the most influential underrated MC of all time.   No matter what the general public says or doesn't say, rappers definitely know who he is.  I mean, he literally is most likely your favorite rapper's favorite rapper.

"Kool G Rap is regarded as a hugely influential golden age rapper. Music journalist Peter Shapiro suggests that Kool G Rap "created the blueprint for Nas, Biggie and everyone who followed in their path"

Kool G Rap is described by Kool Moe Dee as "the progenitor and prototype for Biggie, Jay-Z, Treach, Nore, Fat Joe, Big Pun, and about twenty-five more hard-core emcees", and Kool Moe Dee also claims Kool G Rap is "the most lyrical" out of all of the artists mentioned. MTV describes Kool G Rap as a "hip-hop godfather", adding that he paved the way for a lot of MCs who we would not have heard of otherwise. Rolling Stone says, "G Rap excelled at the street narrative, a style that would come to define later Queens MCs like Nas (who was hugely influenced by G Rap on his early records) and Mobb Deep".

Other artists who have named Kool G Rap as a major influence include Eminem, Jay-Z, Tajai of Souls of Mischief, Vinnie Paz of Jedi Mind Tricks, Steele of Smif-n-Wessun, Havoc of Mobb Deep, Rock of Heltah Skeltah, MC Serch, Termanology, Black Thought of The Roots, M.O.P., Scarface, R.A. The Rugged Man, Andre Nickatina, Bun B of UGK, Rah Digga, RZA and Raekwon of Wu-Tang Clan, Lady Of Rage, Big Pun, O.C. of DITC, Memphis Bleek, Kurupt, Pharoahe Monch and Twista, among others."

-Source of this quote found here.

Another quote from this entry states, "Criticisms of Kool G Rap's solo albums usually focus on the production not being up to the standard of the rapping."  Well, this is not at all a problem on STEELWORKS5.  Kool G Rap's aggressive and technical mafioso street rhymes blend well over GBUILDING's gritty, cinematic production.

STEELWORKS6.5 - GRIPZ VS. GZA2 - PRO TOOLS G-MIX

GZA/ GENIUS.

GZA can not be compared to any other rapper period.  He's in a category all of his own.  Once described as The definitive MC's "MC", I can not disagree.  GZA always commands your attention as the preeminent general of the Wu-Tang Clan, both verbally and physically.  Not missing a step in his flow, or technique since Liquid Swords (1995)Pro-Tools dropped in 2008 under Babygrande Records with production from RZA, Bronze Nazareth, Preservation, Mathematics, Black Milk, Arabian Knight, & True Master.  With a production cast like this, and the deadly verbal assault accompanied by dizzying lyrical complexity by GZA, ProTools gained both acclaim and critique.  Regardless of the talk, it is definitely worth checking out.

Anyway, GBUILDING goes in hard over accapellas of 10 Tracks from this joint (17 in all, not counting intro/outro; some done 2wice) and more than holds his own in my opinion.  Threading the needle of melodic head-nod grooves and raw, gruesome, face-grimacing sickness, GRIPZ VS GZA2 breathes some additional life to an already impressive album.

Editorially speaking, I can't help but agree that a couple of the original ProTools tracks missed the mark because, upon hearing the G-MIX version, it felt like I truly connected with some of the tracks for the first time.  Alright, enough from the peanut gallery, make your own decision.

Check out the sampler below, & then head on over to the

THE GRIPZ PREVIEW4 - THE PRETTY TONEY G-MIX

GBUILDING strikes again!  This time with THE GRIPZ PREVIEW4 - THE PRETTY TONEY G-MIX!  For those of you who didn't know, Ghostface dropped a wild album and book called "The World According to Pretty Toney".   G laces Ghostface's talk knowledge with his special brand of ill flavor.  The original is Ghost parlaying for over 20 minutes in sheer silence.  In the beginning, it sounds like he is going to drop over beats.  The intro and the first 40 seconds got beatz but then after that...nothing.

I mean, I got love for Ghost and all but I enjoy this GBUILDING version 200% better.  In fact I believe they enhance one another exponentially.  I had to listen 3 times before I could really listen for the beats because Ghost was just crackin' me up time and time again.  But once I got around to actually hearing them beats...man just listen to a sample.

Press Release:

"MTV Press announced that they were teaming with Staten Island MC Ghostface to release a new book, The World According to Pretty Toney, on January 8, 2008. MTV said that the motivational manual “offers nuggets of street wisdom on the key elements to becoming your own personal success story: livin’, hustlin’, lovin’, eatin’, and the all-encompassing Toneology.” It also comes with an exclusive audio disc containing over 20 minutes of Ghost speaking on various subjects."

"For all y’all smart dumb cats out there." Legendary Hip Hop artist Ghostface Killah settles into one of his most popular characters, Pretty Toney, and offers readers a hilariously unique perspective on life via guides to and advice on everything from sex to gambling, family to education, even how to eat on just $5 a day, better known as "The Hustler’s Diet". A singular twist on Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People for the Hip Hop generation complete with illustrative photos. Born as a series of shorts on MTV2, Pretty Toney and his musings quickly became a channel and online hit, with fans uploading the shorts on YouTube and circulating them virally. The book will also include a CD of Ghostface reading the material, the perfect accompaniment to enjoying the book. Hardcover, 9.25 x 6.25 inches, 112 pages, four-color photographs throughout … incl. CD!"

I told you this was wild.  Ghost even did a bunch of spots on MTV (Most of y'all probably know this but hey...) Check a few of em out.  All said and done, It's almost too bad Tone didn't holler at G to put these beats behind the vocals before he dropped this joint.  In my opinion, it might have been that much more successful.  Heh, but you know of course, I guess I'm biased.  After you peep the videos, be sure to download the exclusive GBUILDING "GRIPZ PREVIEW4 - THE PRETTY TONEY G-MIX" on our FREE DOWNLOADS PAGE.
Peace & Enjoy.

SMH...GATORS BEATS REACH 1000+!!!!

What do I say about this?   I'm just a blogger.  A guy who likes music.  And in my spare time I try to share some of what I enjoy.  But this is crazy.  G continued to drop GATORS joints (50-track instrumental beat compilations) up to Volume 20, which if I got the math right, equals ONE THOUSAND BEATS.

But see, its not even completely right.  G decided to put some bonus tracks on Volume 20.  I'm sorry I don't have them all up today but, I can't keep up.  When I can get all of the new joints uploaded, I'll post em in a new section called GATORS ARCHIVE.  Hah, its not like you are going to listen to all of em tonight or anything.  According to the calculations from iTunes this complete compilation is 45 HOURS 34 MINUTES & 10 SECONDS LONG.  Yeah, so...take your time.

If you want to get the jump on me and begin your FREE DOWNLOADS of GATORS 1-20, the original thread is found HERE.

I've heard up to GATORS 13,  and I'm telling you, the beats just get sicker and sicker.  On 13 you'll find some wild 70's cartoon beats and funky Blaxploitation beats too.  When I get some time, I'll break down some more so it'll be easier to digest this.

Man, 1000 beats...just ridiculous.  Never experienced anything like it.

---EDIT
ALL GATORS TRACKS ARE UPLOADED AND IN THE GATORS ARCHIVE.

GATORS COLLECTION ANNOUNCED!

I don't really know if I have ever seen anything like this before, but G has decided to make a collection of the beats he made between 2004 - 2007 available to the public, once again, for FREE!!  Entitled "GATORS",  these individual collections have 50 beats per project.  In like 3 days he's dropped 7 projects and I hear maybe by the end of the night could be at 10...

..............................

Honestly, when was the last time you got access to 500 original beats in 3 days without a Bit Torrent?  I mean, this one particular collection is like some producer's whole career.  Needless to say, I'm blown away by the staggering force of this guy's work ethic.  If it doesn't make you wanna step your game up, it should man, it really should.

I've listened through the first 5 GATORS and there is a truly diverse set of styles on display here.  There is something for everyone on these.  Tracks range from pimped-out smooth joints, & old-school boom bap flavor, to some dance ready tracks with a driving tempo and positive energy.  You'll hear some heart-wrenchingly soulful tracks, some off-the-wall unclassifiable stuff, and of course some viscerally gritty, raw pieces too.

Its a beat making tour-de-force, and though every last beat isn't in the most finished final form, you'll occasionally get a beat which consists simply of a sample looped in an interesting way, and you can at least get a general idea about process and the elements G uses to construct a beat.

Check out the collection here on the GATORS FREE DOWNLOADS Page!

AFRO SAMURAI - GBUILDING MIX - PT. 2

Part 2 of the ridiculously ill GBUILDING MIX of the soundtrack for Afro Samurai. Again select GBUILDING tracks are placed as soundtrack music for the Afro Samurai TV series. The fierce action goes hand in hand with the intensity of these tracks. Enough talk. Just peep it.

AFRO SAMURAI - GBUILDING MIX - PT. 1

Here is a special treat.
GBUILDING tracks set as soundtrack music for the Emmy nominated AFRO SAMURAI
According to a RZA interview, Season 3 is in the works.
I definitely hope so.  In the meantime, check out the AFRO SAMURAI G-MIX below.

GBUILDING STEELWORKS13 - RAEKWON THE CHEF

This one right here is one of my favorite GBUILDING projects. In commemoration of the loooooong awaited Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 album, G releases STEELWORKS 13!  With 8 remixes each of "10 Bricks" and "House of Flying Daggers" it almost feels like you got another or even a substitute OB4CL2 album.

One thing that makes projects like this really special is that G gives you little bonuses during interludes and at the end of tracks making it worthwhile to listen all the way through to the end.  For example, on any given project, on top of the sicc beats you'll most likely get a relevant interview or a rare commercial audio sample.  In many ways, G is a bit of a historian in that those samples will often give you some insight into the process for the album, the mindset of its creators, or what they are doing in the future.  One extra on this STEELWORKS is an ODB audio compilation tribute which is seriously a must hear.  I'd probably cop this one just for that, but the tracks are bangin' too!  Not to mention the price is right.  (*cough -- FREE!)
Flat out it is just a solid project overall.

Don't sleep on this one.  Grab it up for FREE on the STEELWORKS Download Page after you sample 10 BRICKS and HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS below.  Also check out some illustrations from the Wu Massacre album with Ghost Rae & Meth.

GBUILDING SHAOLIN TEMPLE5

SHAOLIN TEMPLE5. The latest installment in the SHAOLIN TEMPLE series. GBUILDING scores again with a dramatic cinematic score, gruesome beats and a cleverly constructed arrangement of karate flick dialogue samples!  First, get a taste of the sample below, & then check out the whole joint on the SHAOLIN TEMPLE Downloads Page!

STEELWORKS4 GRIPZ OF DOOM

MF DOOM.

I'm not really going to pontificate much about how I feel about this MC other than to say that in my book, he is pretty much heads and shoulders above nearly every other rapper terms of creativity, lyricism, complexity and originality.

Plus, DOOM's bizarre mixtures of  references from 70's TV , 80's cartoons and 90's MC acumen are right up my alley.

Apparently, GBUILDING is also an advocate. He dropped 3 projects featuring DOOM, each delving into the world of the original Villain himself.

This particular project is a 22-track venture across several of DOOM's evolving if not schizophrenic personality sets. (Well, actually 17 if we are not counting the intro/outro and remixes.) There are definitely some gems on this joint.

Here is a little tasty treat. A G-MIX from STEELWORKS4 GRIPZ OF DOOM.

"GET 'ER DONE G-MIX2"
STEELWORKS04

Why, even Mos Def is a fan of DOOM.  G took some time on STEELWORKS4 to allow Mos Def to explain what makes DOOM so special. Check out the video with a ton of GBUILDING production all over it and then go grab up the FREE DOWNLOAD of the whole project!

These two cats definitely have mutual respect for one another. After this first video, another surfaced like it, with DOOM making a cameo at the end of it.   Later they did some shows together.

There have been some mashups on the net with DOOM over some Mos Def beats and vice versa and some buzz about a possible legitimate full project with them together on it, but I don't believe it has been verified.  Until then enjoy this certified heat from GBUILDING and a link to a special performance where Mos Def performs Madvillain's "Accordion".

GBUILDING SHAOLIN TEMPLE3

When I was about 5 years old, my father showed me Shogun Assassin.  For those who have not yet seen it, you are missing out on a bloody tale of honor, revenge and pure samurai hacking enjoyment.  For the record, Shogun Assassin is a re-cut version of Animego's Lone Wolf & Cub.  GBUILDING pays a tribute to the cult classic on the SHAOLIN TEMPLE3 album.  Sickness.  By the way, the 30th Anniversary Edition Blu-Rau of Shogun Assassin just recently came out.  Either way, DVD/VHS/or Blu-Ray cop it.

GBUILDING SHAOLIN TEMPLE4

SHAOLIN TEMPLE4.  GBUILDING seamlessly channels classic Shaw Brothers movies on this project with a mixture of hard-hitting aggressive drums, soulful swinging samples, and grimy, dank cellar beats. The energy on this joint is off the charts. Check it out on the SHAOLIN TEMPLE Downloads Page!

IN THE GBUILDING, TAKING ALL TYPES OF MEDICINE...

"GBUILDING got mad beats."

An understatement if I ever heard one.   For those who are unfamiliar with the name, GBUILDING is a hip-hop producer. A prolific creator, "G" is always working on the next project.  With more than 20 projects under his belt, GBUILDING is a beat-making machine.  With a professional production resume and an insatiable appetite for hip-hop, GBUILDING is definitely making moves.

This blog is something of a dedication to the work I have appreciated and enjoyed and hope to share this archive with a wider audience.  On this blog, I intend to drop reviews, links, videos, art, pics, free mixtapes and other hip-hop related content.  Keeping up with GBUILDING is not always the easiest task, but hopefully I can get an interview and put some more exclusive material on here.  Stay tuned as GBUILDING continues to drop "nuttin' but dat RAW."
